Careful with those huge calorie cuts!
Tuesday, December 25th, 2007Many, if not most, that try to burn body fat fast, or keep body fat levels in check while going through a muscle building / weight gain phase, make drastic adjustments to their food intake in order to get or stay “cut / defined”.
This could be one of the worst things you could do.
Huge drops in calorie levels can cause your body to do exactly what you don’t want it to do, which is to slow the metabolism down in order to keep up with the drastic cut. The body does not adjust well to mega calorie cuts in a diet, especially if done for more than a couple of days.
When the body senses that there is a much less amount of calories being supplied to it, the metabolism slows down to be able to continue to function at the new, lower level….all of which make it even harder to burn fat and results in losing that hard gained muscle mass.
